Sharon has a passion to help her students think deeply about literature, history, and God’s Word. She enjoys the relationships with her students and delights in challenging them to make connections between real life and what they are learning. Sharon encourages her students to develop and express their own thoughts and opinions through their writing and thinking. Watching a student grow and mature over the year is one of her greatest joys. Sharon has a degree in English and has taught English and History at home school tutorials for over fifteen years. She grew up in the South (Tennessee, Louisiana, and Georgia) and looks forward to sharing her affinity for American literature with high-school students and her passion of God’s Word and Ancient History with junior-high students. Sharon’s husband, Fred, is the Senior Director of Camps and Recreation at Deer Run Retreat, a ministry where their family has served for the past ten years. They have three children, whom they have home-schooled over twenty years. Ahnna, their 25 year-old daughter, graduated from Lipscomb with a degree in history and works for the Battle of Franklin Trust. Caleb, their 23 year-old son, graduated from Lipscomb and will attend graduate school for a Doctorate in Physical Therapy. Seth, their youngest son, attends The Academy Tutorial and loves the learning and community here. Personally, Sharon enjoys legal pads, the written word, words, puns, books, poetry, conversations, tea, coffee, nature, trees, birds, hiking, and all the above at one time!
