Dr. Heidi Rand

Heidi teaches health every other year at The Academy.  She is a graduate of Illinois Wesleyan University with a biology major and philosophy minor, Southern University Illinois School of Medicine, and Vanderbilt Medical Residency in Internal Medicine and Dermatology.  Originally from Illinois, Vanderbilt brought her and Scot south in 1997.  The warm weather, kind people, and gorgeous landscapes convinced them to stay.  Heidi works part time as a dermatologist in Nashville, and full time as a homeschool mom and wife.  Favorite family pastimes include hiking, camping, kayaking, and spending time enjoying God’s awesome creation outdoors on their farm. When the weather is less pleasant,  reading great books and playing cards and board games keep them entertained.  For fun this past year, Heidi took a course to learn American Sign Language.  Something on her to do list is to take tennis lessons so she can play with her husband and son.  Heidi teaches health because she sees the general health of young people in our modern culture decreasing physically, emotionally, and spiritually.   She is passionate about teaching God’s truth about healthy living to young people.
