Cari has had a love for photography ever since she got her first digital camera in 7th grade. It was the size of a brick, but that didn’t stop her from taking it with her everywhere she went. Her desire to study photography moved her from Birmingham, AL to Jackson, TN to pursue a degree in Photojournalism and Public Relations at Union University. She’s had her own photography business since 2008 and still tears up at every wedding she shoots. Her love for people and storytelling has taken her many different places: the small towns along the Mexican border, English Language Camps in Ukraine, Angola Prison, Bhutanese refugee apartments in Texas, and some other places her Dad probably doesn’t want to know about. Alongside her digital photography work, Cari loves experimenting with new and old mediums like film and Polaroids. She’s excited about teaching students how to capture the beauty of a story or a moment with a photograph. Photography can open up worlds of opportunity and she’s thrilled to be able to encourage others in their journey. Cari’s other loves include cooking, growing vegetables, and trying to talk her sweet husband, Rob Griffith, into getting a dog.
